In recent years, the Risk Dialogue Foundation, together with the University of Leipzig, developed a communication concept for the Federal Office for Radiation Protection (BfS) in Germany for the Radiological Situation Centre (RLZ) .

The communication of content around radioactivity is a multi-layered, complex challenge. The aim of the project was to develop and provide building blocks for a concrete practical guide for risk and crisis communication in nuclear emergency response. In doing so, not only scientific principles and practical knowledge were integrated, but also the needs of different target groups were empirically recorded and reflected. Success factors such as trust, target group orientation, transparency or dealing with uncertainties and fears are currently just as valid for the communication around the Corona pandemic.
