Switzerland’s electricity future: the population’s expectations and preferences in the face of conflict of aims

Just in time for the Paris Climate Conference, we published the self-financed, representative study on the future of electricity.

We investigated in the Swiss population’s preferences and ideas about the future of electricity. The study shows: The population is in prefers renewable energy sources and wants to quit nuclear power. Importantly, the Swiss are aware of the costs and possible conflicts for the implementation of this transformation. When it comes to conflict of aims, the population attaches particular importance to the long-term protection of health, climate and resources. This is followed by the guarantee of an affordable electricity price, as well as by the independence of supply later on. A representative panel of 1,000 swiss in all regions of the country was surveyed.
